Sunset benefit at Rancharrah for LGBTQ center
Our Center, Reno’s LGBTQ community center, celebrates its reopening after more than a year with its Rainbows at the Ranch fundraiser running 6 to 10 p.m. June 25 at the Club at Rancharrah, 6100 Rancharrah Parkway (entrance from Talbot Lane). The event features cocktails, appetizers, entertainment and silent auction. Tickets: $100.
Pulled pork on the lawn: Food Truck Friday
Food Truck Friday, the region’s largest food truck gathering, has returned to Idlewild Park, 2055 Idlewild Drive, after being sidelined in 2020 because of the pandemic. The event runs 4 to 9 p.m. Fridays through August 27 and features three dozen food and drink vendors weekly. See Reno Street Food for details.
Plant starters at Bonsai Blue Garden Market
Bonsai Blue Garden Market, one of Reno’s newest farmers markets, runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays, June 17 through Oct. 28, at Dayton Valley Turf, 290 Kietzke Lane. The market features farmers, food vendors and artisans. Starters of edible plants suitable to our climate are a signature offering. The details are online.
Quiz Night at the Pub for singles (with wine!)
Heartscape, a company that organizes social gatherings for singles, is presenting Quiz Night at the Pub for singles from7 to 9 p.m. July 6 at Midtown Wine Bar, 1527 S. Virginia St. Besides trivia, the evening features refreshments and prizes. Tickets: $22.50.
Hands-on ‘Delhi Street Foods’ class at TMCC
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 10, Truckee Meadows Community College Community Education is presenting its ‘Delhi Street Foods’ class featuring hands-on instruction making chaat, the fried dough snack of India and elsewhere in South Asia. The class takes place at TMCC Meadowood Center, 5270 Neil Road, south building. Cost: $49 plus $15 materials fee. Register online.
