The leaders of Nevada’s Democratic Party are asking Rep. Mark Amodei to explain his continuing support of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the congresswoman accused of making anti-Semitic remarks, who dabbles in conspiracy theories, and who supported the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Sheila Leslie, in her Left Foot Forward column, notes that Gov. Joe Lombardo feels it’s worth the time, effort and costs to appeal the Nevada Commission on Ethics’ ruling that he “willfully,” “knowingly and repeatedly” engaged in numerous ethics violations during his campaign. Leslie also takes the governor to task for his “shameful display of manufactured outrage” as related to his support of the state’s taxpayer-funded private-school program.
Journalist Guy Clifton pens a tribute to Oliver X, Artown’s marketing director, who died Aug. 13 after suffering a stroke. Community members mourned his loss, praising Oliver X as a tireless advocate for and promoter of the arts in Northern Nevada since 2008.
In our latest letters’ column, readers had a lot to say about museums hoarding the skeletons of Native Americans, the bullies harassing panel members at local public meetings, the dangers of artificial intelligence, and other issues that were topics of recent RN&R stories.
Movie reviewer Bob Grimm says Blue Beetle, the latest DC Universe film, feels like something Marvel would reserve for a TV show. It’s relatively entertaining, he writes, but formulaic, and it “feels cobbled together.” Still, “it’s also enjoyable enough to justify its existence,” he writes.
Grimm had a similar take on No Hard Feelings, an old-fashioned, raunchy sex comedy starring Jennifer Lawrence. The flick is predictable, he notes, but Lawrence and other cast members score some solid laughs along the way.
I’ll see you in the funny papers.
Take care,

Blue Beetle is a little slow in stretches, but it definitely soars in its second half thanks to competent action direction and a terrific score.

No Hard Feelings is good for some solid chuckles and is hopefully the beginning of a nice comedy phase in Jennifer Lawrence’s career.
