From Dec. 27-31, monetary donations to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $40,000, through the support of Dermody Properties and Greater Nevada Credit Union.

All donors who give during the period will be entered into a drawing to watch a 2022 Reno Aces game in the Greater Nevada suite, with 20 tickets and hosted food. Donate here.

The apian way: Workshop on bees and beekeeping


From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 22, 2022, Mason Valley Beekeepers is offering its Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping Workshop at the Catholic Center, 311 Virginia St., Yerington. The workshop covers basic bee biology and terminology, beekeeping equipment and caring for a bee colony.
