From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23, the Reno News & Review is presenting its RN&R Art Talks Benefit, a fundraiser for the Independent Journalism Fund. The IJF helps fund independent local journalism in Northern Nevada and California, journalism that is not beholden to hedge funds or faceless corporate overlords thousands of miles away.
The Quick Draw portion of the event features prominent local artists creating works of art in 90 minutes. The Boneyard is a silent auction of works donated by artists and supporters. Guests at the benefit can watch the Quick Draw artists as they work and bid in the silent auction as they enjoy drinks and appetizers.
The event takes place at the home of local businessman and philanthropist Jim House, 175 Juniper Hill Road in West Reno. Suggested ticket donation: $50. Visit here for details/tickets.
To donate by credit card, visit the Independent Journalism Fund, then click on the Donate button. Or, mail a check made out to IJF/Tides Foundation, with Reno in the memo line, to P.O. Box 7474, Reno, Nev., 89510.
