From July 12 to 24, more than 20 local businesses are offering Pride-themed specials for Yelp’s Out & About Pride Party promoting the Northern Nevada Pride celebration that runs July 24 in Reno. A portion of each sale benefits Our Center, the city’s LGBTQ+ community center. The goal is to raise $36,000 to help fund a year of Center services.

Sixteen participants are food and drink establishments. As part of the promotion, Nevada Sunset Winery, 415 E. Fourth St., is producing and selling Nevada Sparkles, a sparkling wine, for $20, with $4 being donated to the Center.

Wine Walk again at max chardonnay

The Reno Wine Walk returns at full capacity from 2 to 5 p.m. July 17 at participating merchants in the Riverwalk District in downtown Reno. For $30, folks receive a hand-painted wine glass and ID bracelet for tasting wine at up to 15 spots. Folks also can enter a 5 p.m. raffle of more than $700 in gift cards from Wine Walk businesses. Awards for the region’s best wine lists

PHOTO/PROVIDED BY ATLANTIS: The wine cellar at the Atlantis casino’s Bistro Napa, which the Wine Spectator recently honored with a 2021 Award of Excellence for its wine program. The restaurant has won the award for 20 consecutive years.

The Wine Spectator recently announced its 2021 Restaurant Awards recognizing the best wine programs in all 50 states and 72 territories and countries. The awards are among the most prestigious in the wine industry.

Two Reno spots — Charlie Palmer Steak in Grand Sierra and French Quarter Restaurant in the Reno Men’s Club — won a Best of Award of Excellence, the middle category between the initial tier (Award of Excellence) and the top tier (Grand Award Winner).

Manzanita in the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe in Truckee also won a Best of Award of Excellence.

Atlantis Steakhouse and Bistro Napa in the Atlantis, Bimini Steakhouse in the Peppermill, Bistro 7 restaurant in South Reno, Cactus Creek Prime Steakhouse in the Bonanza, Roxy and La Strada in the Row, and the Steakhouse in Boomtown Casino all received an Award of Excellence.

Lone Eagle Grille in the Hyatt Incline Village, Kalani’s Restaurant in South Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Village and West Shore Café & Inn, on tLake Tahoe in Homewood, also received an Award of Excellence.

Ono kau kau at annual Reno Aloha Festival

The 5th Annual Reno Aloha Festival runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 22 in Wingfield Park, 2 S. Arlington Ave. The event, a celebration of Hawaiian culture, features food, music, dance, children’s activities, and instruction in hula, ukulele playing and speaking Hawaiian. Details are on Facebook.

Forking into four courses at Fourk

Hungry in Reno, an organizer of local culinary events, joins with Fourk Kitchen on Aug. 23 to present the latest outing in Hungry’s Supper Club series. The dinner runs 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the restaurant, 4991 S. Virginia St., in the Nordstrom Rack center, and features charcuterie and one glass of beer or wine during happy hour and a four-course meal with wine pairings.

Cost of $150-250 includes gratuity and taxes. One hundred percent of net ticket income will be donated to local charities (select one during purchase). Tickets/details at Evenbrite.
