Tears of Joy Theatre presents its puppet theater production of Ride the Red Mare. It tells the story of Sophia, a girl who sets off on a quest to find her brother, Leo, who has been kidnapped by trolls. A small wooden horse she takes with her transforms into a red mare and together they confront the trolls. The play is adapted from Ursula K. Le Guin’s book A Ride on the Red Mare’s Back and features shadow and bunraku puppets. The show begins 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Piper’s Opera House, 12 N. B. St., Virginia City. Tickets are $6-$10.
