Jimmy Boegle is the publisher and executive editor of the Reno News & Review. He is also the founding editor and publisher of the Coachella Valley Independent in Palm Springs, Calif. A native of Reno, the Dodgers fan went to Stanford University intending to become a sportswriter—but fell in love with news and investigative reporting while working for The Stanford Daily. After graduation, Jimmy worked for The Associated Press and the Daily Sparks Tribune before serving as the RN&R editor from 2000-2001. After a stint at Las Vegas CityLife, he became the editor of the Tucson Weekly in 2003. In his decade as the editor, the Tucson Weekly and its writers won hundreds of journalism awards, and the Weekly was named the 2011 non-daily Newspaper of the Year by the Arizona Newspapers Association. He founded the Coachella Valley Independent in late 2012. He serves on the Association of Alternative Newsmedia board of directors as the vice president, and has also served as the diversity chair and the membership chair. He lives in Palm Springs with his husband, Garrett Dangerfield.
