Author Archives: Cynthia S. Ryan

Cynthia S. Ryan has had a wide-ranging career that began nearly 60 years ago in daily and weekly newspapers as a hot-metal printer. She later shifted her focus to advertising, working for Demiris, Rice & Associates in Salt Lake City as print production manager, art director and then account executive. After moving to Nevada, she represented the Nevada Wing and later USAF-CAP National Staff, Civil Air Patrol emergency services operations, as public information officer. Most notably, Lt. Col. Ryan was the primary PIO during the high-profile search missing aviator Steve Fossett (2007), for which she received the National Aeronautics Association award for Outstanding Achievement in Advancement of Public Benefit Flying. She currently writes and manages social media for several companies. Originally from Miami, Fla., she lives in Reno with her husband, Ron Ryan.
