Welcome to this weekโs Reno News & Review.
Do you feel the change in the air?
Itโs only Presidentโs weekend, but I already feel like thereโs something in the meme (a disturbance in the Force, Luke). Many people were actually on kind of a high after the weekendโs Democratic caucus, possibly seeing a light at the end of this weird tunnel weโve been living in the last few years.
My family, too, was quite happy with the change in temperature. Spring began sproinging this weekend, it seemed. My son, Hunter, was learning to jump rope on the sidewalk in front of the house. Iโm pleased to say that he gets his grace from his mother.
I, on the other hand, spent the weekend embroiled in an epic battle with my laptop. As I mentioned last week, Iโm taking a Unix class to gain the skills to help overthrow Bill Gatesโ evil Windows empire. I observed the beautiful weather from the interior of my office, at times cursing and screaming so loudly at the computer that I disturbed my pets outside.
I did, however, make it to the gym twice. For those whoโre curious about how the Atkins Diet is going for me, Iโm still weighing in at 225, barely a reduction from when I wrote the diet story โThe Fat and the Furiousโ in December. People keep commenting, though, that all the exercise is reapportioning the fat. Fine by me.
As I write this, the official first day of spring is only 32 days away, and the wind is kicking up a fuss outside. I have yet to buy the 2 by 12s with which Iโm going to construct my raised vegetable garden, but Iโve already begun fantasizing about little green sprouts reaching their grasping fingers from the soil.
Itโs as former news editor Deidre Pike is so fond of saying, โItโs all good.โ How could it be anything else?
RTV No. 15: Have you ever wanted to support radical change in how government handles things like corporations and corporate rights? Voting for the right person may engender substantive change.
