Itโ€™s just about time for all new and returning wolves to start up at the University of Nevada, Reno, and weโ€™ve put together our annual Join the Pack guide to help get the puppies going. This is an odd time for me because itโ€™s the first year since I can remember that I wonโ€™t be attending classes in the fall, and Iโ€™m probably just a little too stoked to rub that in the faces of some of my not-so-graduated friends. But college is an awesome and fun time, and you get out of it what you put into it, so when you enter those classrooms on Aug. 25, freshmen, take advantage of what youโ€™ve got in front of youโ€”and have the time of your lives. Trust me. It goes by way too quickly.

As we do every year, weโ€™ve included a campus map and list of important phone numbers on campus to help get you oriented. Thereโ€™s also a Q&A with undecided major advisor Aqueelah Thompson for those of you who donโ€™t know what the hell youโ€™re doing quite yet. (Donโ€™t worry. No one really does.) If you want to get yourself prepared for the upcoming sports seasons, Chris Boline has written a primer telling you what and who to look out for. And if youโ€™re curious what is going on with the current, recently completed and soon to be started construction on campus, you can turn to page 3 for a rundown of those projects. Erin Meyering has given some advice about essentials to remember when packing to move into the dorms, and Sarah Shoen talks about how to and why to get involved in clubs, organizations and whatever you can on campus. Finally, Anneliese Hucal talks about how the freedom given to you in college can help you find and re-educate yourself.

So, take a breath, calm down and give yourself a break from packing for a moment to read through this guide, and make sure you keep it close as you go through this new chapter in your life.

Thanks for reading,
Sage Leehey
