Four Seasons Vietnamese Kitchen is now open in Midtown.

Openings

The owner of Crawfish Asian Cuisine, Ken Vong, opened Four Seasons Vietnamese Kitchen in June, sandwiched between Great Full Gardens and Batch Cupcakes at 555 S. Virginia St., Unit 102, in Midtown, serving Vietnamese fusion for lunch and dinner in a modern space.

Customer favorites include shaking beef (New York steak cubes wok-fried with peppers and onions in a house sauce) and galbi short ribs (beef short ribs in a special marinade). According to staff member Sarah Tate-Crowder, the chicken wings—with five-spice salt and sticky fish sauce—might be the best in town; the spring rolls are made fresh to order; and Chef Ken simmers his pho broth for 48 hours using no added MSG.

Among items like a wagyu pho, the menu also includes several different banh mi sandwiches, garlic noodles and rice dishes—all with vegetarian options. Visit fourseasonskitchenreno.com or check the Four Seasons Facebook page for updates.

In August, South Reno welcomed a new breakfast and lunch option: Full Belly Deli, at 9333 Double R Blvd. Owners Tom Marrin and Eric Barton opened their first store in Truckee in 2007. The new location is their fourth, and the third in Reno. Menu items are often classic options with a twist, such as the biscuits and gravy burrito, and the nacho pollo loco—a nacho-chip-crusted chicken sandwich—both of which were featured on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Breakfast and lunch are served all morning and afternoon. For more information, go to eatfullbellydeli.com.

A new late-night option has arrived in downtown Reno: Yuzu Sushi and Bar, at 440 N. Virginia St., across the street from Silver Legacy.

Yuzu departs from Reno’s all-you-can-eat sushi tradition and offers long rolls, deep fried rolls, nigiri, sashimi and other items à la carte. There’s an expansive sake menu, along with wine, cocktails and Japanese beers. Most nights, a server told us, food is served until 11:30 p.m., and cocktails until midnight. Events

The former owners of Bailywicks, a Reno burger place and bar that thrived in the 1980s, are hosting a reunion event at The Fox Restaurant and Brewery.

Bailywicks was a burger joint that opened in 1981 and had a 10-year run in the historic building (rumored to be haunted) at 124 Wonder St., now home to The Fox Restaurant and Brewery. On Saturday, Sept. 12, founders Michael Atkinson and Larry DuLittle are hosting a nostalgic Bailywicks reunion event at the The Fox.

David “Smitty” Smith, the restaurant’s first bartender, recalled that Bailywicks was “a melting pot for Reno” and that the original owners were responsible for the roof-deck music and dining that has lasted through several owners. The restaurant competed in chili cookoffs and helped make Northern Nevada one of the largest Jägermeister markets in the country, said Smith.

The Fox’s kitchen will serve reunion menu items “with a Bailywicks spin” including cheeseburgers, fries and Caesar salads. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and stories from the old days will begin at 6 p.m. Learn more and reserve seats at bailywicks.com.

Tahoe City Oktoberfest is slated for Saturday, Sept. 19.

Tahoe City Oktoberfest celebrates 20 years on Saturday, Sept. 19, from noon to 5 p.m. at Gatekeeper’s Museum/William B. Layton State Park, 130 W. Lake Blvd., in Tahoe City, Calif., with an afternoon of craft beer, Bavarian-inspired food, live music, games, a bounce house for kids, a craft vendor village and more attractions on the shores of Lake Tahoe.

The beer garden will feature regional craft beverages from Bike Dog Brewing, Alibi Ale Works, Tahoe National Brewing Co., and several other local and regional breweries. Food vendors will include Men Wielding Fire, Pop Crunch & Munch, Tahoe House strudel with the Tahoe City Rotary Club, and more. Admission to this family-friendly celebration is free. Tickets, which are required only for the beer garden, are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Learn more at visittahoecity.org/event/oktoberfest26.

Big Chefs Big Gala, a celebration of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northern Nevada’s 25th anniversary, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Grand Sierra Resort, 2500 E. Second St.

Wife-and-husband duo Heejin Kim, co-owner of Sushi Pier, and Joshua Lee will be there serving sushi and barbecue from their food truck, Joshua Lee’s Pit BBQ, along with more than a dozen other food and drink purveyors. The event—which also features live music, dancing, an auction and stories from “Bigs and Littles” from over the decades—opens for VIP guests at 4:30 p.m. and general ticketholders at 5 p.m. A green and silver dress code is encouraged, and the event is only available to those 21 and over.

Tickets start at $350. More information is on the event site here
