Marvin Kinney, who’s been serving up Detroit-style pizza at his popular R Town Pizza since 2022, opened the new East Coast pizza shop Dough.Cheese.Sauce on March 30, at 600 S. Center St., adjacent to Press Start Arcade and Bar.
The menu includes a few hallmark ingredients that star on R Town’s menu, like Calabrian chili and vegan hot honey on the Gabagool. (That’s what “capicola” is called in some East Coast circles. See just about any episode of The Sopranos to hear it in context.) It’s a clean, compact shop with a few feet of counter space where one can stand and eat. The brand-new eatery is already doing a bustling business, quickly turning out slices as large as the paper plates on which they’re served, in varieties like “white pie”—with olive oil, shaved lemon, whipped ricotta and cracked black pepper—and “classic,” with red sauce, pepperoni, “cup n char pepperoni” and oregano. There’s a variety of retro sodas like Boylan birch beer, orange and black cherry, along with a couple of desserts.
While the look, aroma and taste of Dough.Cheese.Sauce’s pizzas are East Coast to the core, there’s also a friendly nod to West Coast pizza eaters’ taste—a side of “yeehaw aioli,” otherwise known as ranch dressing.

Pasta Fresca—with an existing café on Lakeside Drive and a cart selling fresh pasta at farmers’ markets—opened a new location in February next to The Discovery museum at 490 S. Center St.
The brief menu leans toward the classics, with a choice of five pasta shapes (plus rotating whole-wheat and gluten-free options); sauces like spicy arrabbiata and hearty bolognese; add-on proteins (sausage, chicken, shrimp or tofu); and a few special combos, like ravioli with truffle cream butter sauce. A fridge in the corner is stocked with fresh pastas for purchase.

A new self-serve ramen shop with Korean flair is in the works on the University of Nevada, Reno’s main drag at 1651 N. Virginia St. It’s called Seoulful Bites, and you can stay up to date on its progress on Instagram @seoulfulbitesreno.
Ricardo Bravo, owner of Miches Vatos michelada bar and ceviche restaurant (at 538 S. Virginia St.), and his brother Esteban, who works in construction, are in the process of converting the former location of now-closed Local Beer Works into Jugo Juice Bar. The shop has received a spruce-up with bright, new colors.
The brothers plan to serve fresh juices, kombuchas from FOLK Brewing Company in Stateline, and snacks and treats from Batch Cupcakery.
“If you go to Mexico, they’ll serve you juices or sodas in a plastic bag,” said Esteban. “They put the straw in, wrap it up, you’re good to go.”
The brothers plan to continue that tradition—although they said they’ll have cups as well, for people who want to sip and lounge.
Jugo’s will be located at 955 S. Virginia St., a few doors down from The Emerson and directly across Martin Street from Craft Wine & Beer. Find updates on Instagram @jugojuicebar_reno.
