On Nov. 1, statues of a sheep and a lamb were stolen from the Basque heritage area at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno, where they have delighted children for the past 15 years.
The statues are made of fiberglass; the large sheep is about 4 feet tall and weighs more than 50 pounds. Vandals broke the bolts that affixed the statues to their bases and carried them away.
Park officials are asking that the sheep be returned with “no questions asked.” Anyone with information about the lost lambs may call the park office at 775-785-4512. Both sheep are valued at more than $2,000. A $750 reward has been set up through Secret Witness, 775- 322-4900.
NOTE: This report was edited at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 29 to add information about the reward offered through Secret Witness.
