Enjoy the colors of autumn while you still can; winter will soon turn the hardwood trees in the Truckee Meadows into skeletons and the bright leaves into brown husks.

The cycle of the seasons is moving fast this year. Northern Nevada already has weathered a couple snow storms. Winter officially arrives on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Dave Robert, RN&R’s photo editor, captured a few fleeting images of fall in his slide, show, below. The photos were taken along the Truckee River in west Verdi near the California border.
