The Washoe County Health District released a list of community health goals to encourage residents to stick to New Year’s resolutions throughout the year. Suggestions include creating a family emergency kit in the event of a natural disaster, as demonstrated by the recent destructive wildfires. They recommend making “an Emergency and Evacuation Plan for yourself, your family, and your pets or livestock. Keep an Emergency Kit in your home, apartment, and car at all times. At a minimum your Emergency Kit should include the following items: water, blanket, flashlight, batteries, first aid kit, and granola bars.”
The health district also encourages less smoking and more exercise outdoors. For a full list, and support resources, visit www.gethealthywashoe.com.
