On Nov. 2 an investigation into NV Energy’s smart meters and their implementation was opened by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada. The investigation is a result of concerns filed at the PUCN consumer sessions in Northern and Southern Nevada in mid-October (see “Problem solvers,” Oct. 13). A workshop will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 in Las Vegas with a videoconference in PUCN’s Carson City office. Those who wish to participate in the workshop must file a written comment by Nov. 18, to which NV Energy must respond by Dec. 2. Information on how to file a comment is on the website, www.puc.nv.gov.
Installation of the smart meters has already begun and is set for completion in December 2012.
