The inaugural Edible Pedal 100 was a success with more than 500 cyclists in tow. The rideโ€“โ€“which raised funds for Urban Roots Garden Classroom, Virginia Palmer Elementary School, and local Rotary programsโ€”offered three different routes for novice and experienced riders from Reno to Carson City and beyond. A post-ride party was held at Bowerโ€™s Mansion Regional Park and featured a feast of food from local organizations. To get involved in next yearโ€™s event, check out their Facebook page at http://facebook.com/ediblepedal100.

The event is just one example of Northern Nevadaโ€™s commitment toward valuing cycling and its culture. Reno-Sparks was recently named a Bike Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists. South Lake Tahoe also made the list and both were given Bronze awards. Maybe next year weโ€™ll go for the gold.
