Fifth and sixth-graders from the Great Basin Outdoor School have helped create a field guide covering more than 100 Great Basin and Tahoe area plants and animals. Itโ€™s small, laminated and folds up, so itโ€™s easy to bring along on a hike. It also includes information for homeowners about plants that create a high risk of fire. Itโ€™s sold for $7 at Sundance Books & Music in Reno, the Galena Creek Visitor Center and from Lahontan Audubon Societyโ€™s website, www.nevadaaudubon.org. Proceeds benefit Great Basin Outdoor School and its programs that introduce kids to nature.
