Jamming with Lou Reed is something akin to committing musical necrophilia. Reed, every bit alive as Nat King Cole was when he duet-ed โ€œUnforgettableโ€ with his daughter, Natalie, still has hipster cachet jetting from the seams, which, incidentally have been showing for something like 30 years now. Thereโ€™s no faulting Brandon and co. for recording the track โ€œTranquilizeโ€ with the legend, but sticking the thing on the new โ€œrarities albumโ€ Sawdust with the likes of felonious tunes like โ€œWhere the White Boys Danceโ€ smells like Christmas in a really cynical way. Hopefully, Island invests some of that cash in some of the bands that opened for The Kโ€™s on the Samโ€™s Town tour, like The Red Romance.
