Jamming with Lou Reed is something akin to committing musical necrophilia. Reed, every bit alive as Nat King Cole was when he duet-ed โUnforgettableโ with his daughter, Natalie, still has hipster cachet jetting from the seams, which, incidentally have been showing for something like 30 years now. Thereโs no faulting Brandon and co. for recording the track โTranquilizeโ with the legend, but sticking the thing on the new โrarities albumโ Sawdust with the likes of felonious tunes like โWhere the White Boys Danceโ smells like Christmas in a really cynical way. Hopefully, Island invests some of that cash in some of the bands that opened for The Kโs on the Samโs Town tour, like The Red Romance.
