Fresh from his 2006 star-studded career tribute in Carnegie Hall, 84-year-old harmonica genius Toots Thielmans was scheduled to deliver his Brazilian-tinged quartet extraordinaire for an evening of jazz mastery. Unfortunately, Thielmans has had to cancel his performance dates worldwide due to exhaustion from a grueling tour schedule, but the show must go on. While Toots will be unable to appear, his quartet membersโ€”pianist Kenny Werner, guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves and percussionist Airto Moreiraโ€”will be joined by saxophonist David Sanchez for a lively tribute, honoring the legendary master of jazz aptly called by Quincy Jones โ€œOne of the greatest musicians of our time.โ€ The performance takes place on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Nightingale Concert Hall in the Church Fine Arts Building on the UNR campus. Tickets range from $7-$24. Call 784-4278 for more info.
