Itโs hard to read The Tahoe Rim Trail while lying on my bed in Sparks. With almost every page, I feel like leaping up and checking my backpack to see which supplies I need to restock. Hauserman calls this the complete guide for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians, and he comes pretty close. I through-hiked the trail about this time last year, and I wish Iโd had the book on my trip. Sections of the guide include animals and plants (I donโt know how many times I wondered what kind of flower I was looking at), a userโs guide and trail descriptions. Iโve only got one complaint about this book, the Rim Trail is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, couldnโt the photos have been in color? The flat black-and-white images donโt convey the most important reason for hiking the trail. Thereโs a lot going on in this book about the Lake and the region, itโs a keeperโeven for non-hikers.
