Members of pop punk band Chico Escuela say itโ€™s over. The band plays one of its last shows 8 p.m. Oct. 24 with Drowning Adam and A Momentโ€™s Loss at Ark-aโ€™ik. They will also play as part of Teen Read Week at local libraries Oct. 20-22 (see this issueโ€™s โ€œThis weekโ€ calendar, page 21). The band wrote on their soon-to-disappear Web site, โ€œSo Chico Escuela has decided to part ways โ€ฆ for those of you who will be bummed out, we wanted to thank you and anyone else who ever supported us in any way.โ€ โ€ฆ The metal band Lingus was rumored to have fired their guitar player Patrick โ€œTrickโ€ because he was too distracted being in love and all. Many, many disturbed Lingus aficionados wrote to the bandโ€™s Web site. After a few days of banter, Trick wrote to say, โ€œThere were some things that went down, but I donโ€™t feel comfortable talking about them. โ€ฆ As far as the future of Lingusโ€”we (meaning Gus Driver, Matt Kind, Dr. Jerry Lingus and Trick) will see you in the New Year with new songs and a fresh vibe.โ€
