I caught a performance by Voices in Your Mind at an open mic night recently, and I watched as the audience’s reaction shifted from wide-eyed disbelief to enthusiastic cheers. This a capella group performs music as diverse as Alice Cooper and Culture Club, and it’s definitely worth checking out. Their next show will be at the Zephyr Lounge’s Best of the Artists’ Playroom July 28, where you can vote for your favorite open mic finalists. The cover is $5. They’ll also open for The Mermen at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at Brüka Theatre. The cover is $10.
