While the first film was an effective monster movie, Victor Salva’s follow up is foul. High school students, largely consisting of shirtless young males who like to have piss parties together, get trapped inside a bus along a rural road. The Creeper, a winged monster who likes to eat shirtless teenage boys, comes along and starts picking them off one by one. Ray Wise of Twin Peaks is featured as a vengeful father who hunts the Creeper in much the same way that Ahab hunted the white whale, but he isn’t allowed to have any fun with the performance. The film is not scary, it’s full of stereotypes, and it will make fans of the first one angry.
