Trance has never been my favorite kind of techno. Generally, itโs too ethereal without enough heavy beats to make my dancing feet happy. That being said, Christopher Lawrence has always been able to keep those feet moving. Working seamlessly through 11 tracks on his latest album, Around the World, Lawrence is sure to have many a club kid or raver wishing it were the weekend. Lawrence does slow this album down a bit from previous efforts, like 1999โs release on Hook Recordings, Christopher Lawrence Presents. But this album, released on Moonshine, is consistently stronger than earlier albums. While Lawrence has always had a strong voice, this album clearly shows that his familiarity with trance music and turntables has grown even strongerโwhich is kind of scary considering heโs been called โAmericaโs No. 1 Trance DJโ for years now. Around the World once again shows why Lawrence is on par with his European counterparts.
