Madame C.J. Walker (pictured) was Americaโ€™s first black millionaire businesswoman. Alice Smith was one of the founders of the Reno-Sparks NAACP. Nationally acclaimed storyteller Juanita Westbrook will talk about both women as part of the Washoe County Library Systemโ€™s celebration of Black History Month. With a degree in childhood education, Westbrook works with youth and families and trains the young to be oral storytellers. She has her own show on local public television called Juanitaโ€™s African-American Folklore. “Her message is clear: Believe in yourself and you can do anything,” says Susie Kapahee, information officer for Washoe County Libraries. See Westbrook at 2 p.m. Feb.16 at the Sparks Library or at 6:30 p.m. Feb 26 at Mendive Middle School. For more information, call 327-8350.
