Indulge in a creative assortment of euphemistically named fare at the 35th annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry in Virginia City. Professional and amateur cooks will offer samples of their favorite culinary use of bull testicles as they compete for โbest of,โ โpeopleโs choiceโ and other titles. Those willing to take a bite can choose from the Sack of Six for $28, Tasty Testes (10 samples) for $40, or the Bushel of Balls (all samples) for $60. If a pint of Guinness or other libations are more your style, you can hit up the historic boomtownโs saloons and shops during the St. Paddy Made Me Do It Saloon Crawl. Participating locations will offer a variety of Irish-themed drinks and sweet treats as they compete for your vote for best drink, stop and treat. Downtown Reno will be overrun with little green people on the prowl for drink specials andย craicย (a good time) at the 13th annual Reno Leprechaun Crawl. Up to 29 participating bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the Riverwalk and Brewery districts will offer $4 beer and drinks, loads of drink and food specials, live music and other entertainment, as well as no cover charge, to revelers age 21 or older in their finest St. Patrickโs Day-themed attire and official crawl cups in hand. Crawlers can stop by any location on the map where they can fill up and finish up before moving on to the next stop. The festivities get underway at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 14. Mark International Pi Day with pie and punk rock music at the annual Punk Rock Prom. Dress up as your favorite โSweet Treat,โ which is the theme of this yearโs event, and load up on some sweet tunes provided by pop punk/emo band Arcade 9 (pictured), indie-rock group Ring Pop Wedding, โswagcoreโ trio Faded Shawties and darkwave/goth DJ Rat Demon. Since itโs Pi Day (3.14), salute the mathematical constant ฯ (pi) with a tasty delight served by Silver State Pie Co. and with an outdoor pie fight at midnight. (Pies will be provided.) Go for the green at the 14th annual Leprechaun Race. The festive 5K run and walk takes participants on a course through the downtown and Midtown districts, showcasing colorful neighborhoods, murals and city landmarks like the Discovery Museum. And if you run faster than the fleet-footed leprechaun, you could win a special prize (but donโt expect a pot of gold). This yearโs event also offers the Kids Leprechaun Dash, a 0.4-mile run designed just for young sprinters age 10 or younger. All participants can enjoy a finish line party with refreshments, vendors and an awards ceremony. Runners get free entry into The Discovery by showing their race bib. The 5K race starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Kids Leprechaun Dash at 9:15 a.m., on Sunday, March 15, at Reno City Plaza, 30 N. While many of the large-scale St. Patrickโs Day celebrations take place the weekend prior to the actual feast day, local bars, restaurants and hangouts will host smaller events honoring Irelandโs patron saint on Tuesday, March 17. Here are some events to consider.

Baroque through

Apex Concerts continues its 15th season with a performance by early music ensemble Le Consort. Formed in Paris in 2015, the French quartet has focused on the trio sonata genre, with a repertoire that includes works by composers such as Arcangelo Corelli, Antonio Vivaldi, Franรงois Couperin and Henry Purcell, as well as lesser-known Baroque composers such as Jean-Franรงois Dandrieu, Louis-Antoine Lefevre, Giovanni Battista Reali and Mrs Philarmonica.ย With the timeless interplay of two violins and basso continuo, Le Consort will perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann and other composers of the era. The program culminates in Franceso Geminianiโsย La Folliaโa set of variations on one of the Baroqueโs most iconic melodies. The concert starts at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, at the Harlan O. and Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall, 1338 N. Virginia St., in the University Arts Foundation building at the University of Nevada, Reno.
