Itsy bitsy spider

Raise a toast to the new year and to our eight-legged arachnid friends at Spiders and Spirits, presented by Spider Stuff Co. and Underworld Distillery. Calm those arachnophobia jitters with a craft cocktail or mocktail, and get acquainted with the regal jumping spider, a species of jumping spider native to parts of North America and the Caribbean that the company claims is a gentle, playful creature. Based in Reno, Spider Stuff Co. aims to help people overcome their fear of spiders through education and hands-on demonstrations. The company has hosted spider parties at various locations around town. The 21-and-over event starts at 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, at Underworld Distillery, 5301 Longley Lane, Building F, Suite 203. Spider Stuff Co. will also host an all-ages event, “Arcades and Arachnids,” at 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at Press Start Arcade, 600 S. Center St.
