Duck, duck, duck.

Duck, duck, duck, duck.

Duck, duck … goose! Hey, get that Canada goose outta the river! Can’t you read the “Reserved for Rubber Duckies” sign? Yes, those floating yellow squeaky beaks bobbing along the Truckee’s silvery rills mean it’s time for the Great Truckee River Duck Race at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno. Sure, the annual event gives needy adults a chance to play with bright tubbie toys, but it also serves as a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada. The family fun begins at 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 24 with games, a dunk tank, climbing wall, inflatable boxing ring, bounce houses and a petting zoo. There’ll be music by Trout Fishing in America and performances by Chinese Acrobats, Jenny’s Dance Studio and comedian Howie Nave. A $5 donation lets you adopt a duck for the big race, and the first 10 ducks to cross the finish line win stuff like a 2002 Sonoma, a Marquis spa or $1,000 cash. Now that’s something to quack about.
