The Gatchaman series has been around seemingly forever in both Japan and the United States (it aired in the ‘70s on TV here, and it was known as Battle of the Planets and later as G-Force). One of the current trends in anime is companies revamping successful series of yesterday for today’s younger audiences. At first glance, Gatchaman 1994 doesn’t seem like anything you would keep in your collection. The bland box, the stupid-looking characters in bird costumes and the awful music may repel some viewers. However, if viewers stick around, they are in for a decently entertaining experience with some nice animation and some good action sequences. But ultimately, Gatchaman 1994 is nothing more than standard entertainment that can’t differentiate itself from the multitude of other superhero titles on the market.
