Grab your binoculars and head to the Truckee Meadows Christmas Bird Count on Saturday, Dec. 18. This annual census of wintering bird populations welcomes all levels of birders. Also bring field guides, scopes and food and drink for the day. $5 covers compiling and publishing in the North American Birds journal, which reports the nationwide results.
