A Spokane, Wash., couple, Andrea Parrish and Peter Geyer, is funding their nearly $4,000 wedding by collecting 400,000 aluminum cans for recycling. Their story is chronicled on the couple’s website at weddingcans.com, where they’ve also set up a donation link. Roughly half of it will go toward renting a castle for four days. Other plans include potluck food, and homemade beer, cake and decorations. The wedding takes place in July, and at press time, they’d reached 78 percent of their goal. Parrish told USA Today that they might raise their goal to 1 million cans and donate the value of the extra 600,000 cans to an environmental cause.
