Johnny’s Little Italy on Fourth Street. My husband and I get a pizza, a salad and a couple of glasses of wine. We sit at the bar; it’s the same menu as in the dining room. It’s easier to get a seat at the bar rather than in the dining room. There are also some small-plate happy hour deals around Reno, like at Bistro 7.

Applebee’s two-for-$25 meal deal. You get an appetizer and two meals. You can get chicken, burgers or pasta—a pretty good deal. I have a kid, and we sometimes eat there. It’s pretty quick to get your food. It’s just so expensive at other places nowadays.

The best deal for me is Asian food at Pho 777 in downtown Reno. I just love the pho. It’s healthy, tasty and reasonably priced—and I have leftovers for the next day. Also, Sip of Saigon is pretty good too. It’s basically an introduction to Vietnamese food there.

I like Casa Grande—good Mexican food. They have coupons for their meal deal, so that saves a bunch of money. I get the big burrito loco. It’s got a ton of meat and other stuff in it. Their chips and salsa are pretty good, too. I load up on them.

My best deal is cooking at home. I don’t eat out much; I cook for myself. I eat a lot of chicken, pork, beef and seafood, and a lot of vegetables. I can make a quality meal for a fraction of what it costs in a restaurant. I can make $13 worth of groceries last for three days.
