Only see this movie if you can find a 3D theater. Otherwise, stay away, because the fun is in the effects, and not necessarily the plotting or performances. Itโs not a bad movie, but it isnโt all that great either, so proceed with caution and make sure you are viewing it with the funny glasses. Brendan Fraser plays a scientist whose missing brother believed that Jules Verneโs novel was real. When a seismic occurrence matches his brotherโs notes, Fraserโs character takes off to Iceland with his nephew (Josh Hutcherson) in tow. They fall into the center of the Earth, and you go โWow!โ because the 3-D effects are a blast. If you are sitting in a 2-D screening, you go โBFD!โ because without the 3-D, itโs an amusement park ride that is sitting still. Fraser makes for a fun protagonist, and some of the sequences truly dazzle. See it in theaters, because watching it on DVD will probably blow.
