Those expecting a respite from immigrant-bashing after the election will be disappointed. The Pahrump Town Board has adopted an ordinance restricting the flying of foreign flags, denying town benefits to illegal aliens and making English the official language of Pahrump. The ordinance says any foreign flag must be flown in conjunction with a U.S. flag and can’t be more prominent than the U.S. flag.

But city administrative officials say they’re not going to enforce the flag provisions, there are no town benefits to deny to aliens, and English is already the only language used for official town government business.

The sponsor of the measure told KLAS News, “We don’t have the manpower to enforce it or the money to defend it.”

However, an individual could file a complaint against anyone “improperly” flying a foreign flag, in which case the city might be drawn into having to defend the measure.
