He’s been credited with being among the first to report the CIA’s formation of the Nicaraguan Contras and the U.S. military’s “practice invasions” of Grenada. More recently, Vietnam vet and freelance journalist Eduardo Cohen has been doing the talk circuit, discussing “government propaganda” as it applies to the Bush administration’s wars on terror.

Cohen will talk about government, media and American disinformation efforts at a teach-in at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, in Room 106 of the Ansari Business Building on the UNR campus.

Cohen served in the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam, where he noticed “sharp contrasts between what he saw on the ground and what was being reported in American newspapers,” he says in an online biography.

Monday’s teach-in is being sponsored by the Reno Anti-War Coalition. A suggested donation of $5 will help offset costs for bringing Cohen to Reno, but the group says that nobody will be turned away for lack of funds.
