Former news editor Deidre Pike has replaced Jimmy Boegle as editor of the Reno News & Review. Pike, a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, has worked at the RN&R for nearly a year. She was formerly the health editor and the technology editor at the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Pike moved to Reno in 1992 with her husband, Dave Pike, a National Weather Service meteorologist, and their six children.

Pike said she plans to pursue the standard of excellence set by Boegle in his year and nine months at the RN&R.

โ€œI would like to see the diverse voices of the community reflected even more in our coverage,โ€ she said. โ€œWe can give people the chance to participate in a conversation about the future of Northern Nevada.โ€

Jeff vonKaenel, president and CEO of Chico Community Publishing, the parent company of the Reno News & Review, said he is excited about what Pike can offer the paper.

“From what weโ€™ve seen in her columns and other writings, weโ€™re very excited about what she can do for the Reno News & Review,” vonKaenel said. “Jimmy did some great things for the paper, and weโ€™re looking forward to working with him more in the future.”
