You get not one, but two, Sam Rockwells in this excellent piece of science fiction from director Duncan Jones. Rockwell plays Sam Bell, who is coming to the end of a three-year stint working on the moon. He misses his wife, he misses his kid, and he just wants to go home. An accident interrupts his plan, and he makes a startling discovery. Kevin Spacey is a creepy presence as the voice of a computer that keeps Sam company, and Jones does an amazing job with the look of his film considering the picture’s low budget. Rockwell MUST be remembered at year’s end for his work in this movie. It’s his best work yet, and considering how genius his work has been in the past, those are big words. Lovers of good science fiction are having a great summer with this and Star Trek.
